I smoked years ago. the Smoke didn't bother me. but second hand smoke usually bothered me even then. it was wierd. Second hand smoke REALLY bothers me now. I'd bet that direct inhalation is more dangerous to the smoker than second hand smoke is to them. btu to someone who doesn't smoke, but is constantly xposed to several smokers' by-products (like bartenders)... I would think they could eventually get a much higher reaction from several people's second hand smoke over several hours than they would in another environment where they smoked just the average number of cigarettes... But still.. I KNOW that said bartender will get much more smoke than if s/he didn't smoke, just by being exposed to it. And working in an environment with smokers where you do not smoke, you would have no choice but to ingest the harmful second hand smoke.
