You're correct. My approach was wrong by plblark 2003-12-19 10:28:29
I'm sorry that my posts have taken such a harsh tone. It's in direct response to specific individuals and practices in my vacinity and has nothing to do with you. Maybe I was reading too much attitude into your posts and responding in kind.

The Situational psychology and approach are indeed wrong, but it just feels like severe measures are needed.

I should have included the rant tags. I should have labeled it: "why are some people so insensitive" or some such.

re: AMA propoganda... I think that there are huge profits in Tobacco and sadly, oour country runs on money. As to not arguing ecidence of health effects: AMA propoganda seems to cloud the issue then.

When I can see the smoke concentrated in an area I must walk through, I propose that it has a polluting effect. Since Asthma is triggered by pollutants..

I agree that perfume is offensive. so is Body Odor.

If my feet stunk so bad that there was a 20 oot radius of stench and it lingered in items, locations, clothes, etc... for days... I'd hope that someone would tell me for public health and hygiene reasons. Not all sandal wearers' feet stink. All cigarettes stink.

Point taken re: George Burns. I guess we're talking probabilities of developing symptoms and to me an incredible multiplier of risk is a clear indicator of health risk.

I agree with you about warmth and shelter. I suggest that's probably the right thing to do. I have serious worries about someone bblaming the shelters for enabling them... Personal responsibility is becoming a rare thing. Followed closely by consideration.

My workplace is moving to a new building. We are building a parking ramp there to acomodate the employees. In the two focus groups I attended, I advocated for a place that smokers would WANT to go so that they would not congregate where I need to be. I advocated for lighted, heated gazebos with good ventilation, using a seperate exit. I have no Idea if it will happen.
