The whole issue of my post in the first place was consideration and politeness. I am sorry if this comes across as not being compassionate. If a smoker wants to smoke, I'd ask for some politeness. I am able to forgive their vice when it does not affect me.
You're right about statistics. I got this one from an anti-smoking ad on the radio just this morning, and it's probably biased because of the source, but I'll bet they have their research down...
You're right. lung development is probably harmed by after birth exposure, but that still speaks to my point. Alcohol is also incredibly bad for babies in the womb, but others' alcohol consumption doesn't affect my wife's fetus just by standing in the same room without some direct interaction.
Companies tried to increase the nicotine levels and other addictive substances to make their product more addictive
True, almost everything is bad for you in concentrations, but after all the studies, and all the data and etc... why would someone start now?
Perfumes do stink. I have a sensitive nose. Some odors can make me ill... I agree though that some tobacco smells nice... but cigarettes do not fit into the smells nice category.
Compulsory legislated exercise? no. Incentives to exercise as a preventative... yes. My health plan now pays $20 a month of my health club dues if I go 2x a week.
The problem is that until the settlement, the taxes went only to state-sponsored agencies and not the Health plans I participate in.
Inconsiderate people DO put others at risk every day in every way. so maybe I should say: Inconsiderate Smokers really annoy me. and YES, I have something personal against smokers. I'm tired of my car smelling like an ash tray cause they roam the garage. I'm tired of walking through the haze. I'm tired of riding in stinky elevators. I'm tired of my cow-irkers bringing that stench into my cube.
Tobacco export is bad cause we sanctioned the companies, we KNOW it's unhealthy, and we still export it ... ok, maybe market forces should be allowed to take this issue, but we're exporting DEATH.
There's a difference between more appealing foods and increased chemical addiction.
I am incredibly emotional about this because it gets worse here every day. |
