(and I know everyone's unhappy we're posting here but I didn't see a new thread yet, I will relate it to the original post ... now.)

Those women were asking for someone to come in and free them and their families and the people. People should respond to that. I really really do want that to happen.

Unfortunately the police went in for (in this order, I think): WMD, Oil, and somewhere far down the list, human rights violations.

I just wish that really would have been why people went in. Just like Afghanistan. We KNEW what they were doing to women there. The RIGHT ACTION should have been taken for the RIGHT REASON: because people were crying for help and people were dying because they weren't being cared for. Instead, the Western World only bothered to respond when Afghanistan seemed like the logical location for Osama Bin Ladin. Hell, they didn't even go in because the Taliban was evil, AT ALL!!

Moral police of the world are fine if they have morals. If they are just saying "Do it our way or else we will overthrow you" (which is why they took the oil from Saddam - and I heard that one from Bush's mouth (not a quote but that's the idea)) then they are NOT MORAL.

I see that this can so easily be misused. That's what the UN is for though, right? To make it so people can't abuse this power? That's why things should have gone through the UN ... but then people suffer longer ... Gah. It may just be a lose-lose situation. States are terribly inconsiderate of human rights violations. I think it's inherient in the structure itself, although I need to do further research to determine that for sure.
