In my home I use artificial trees, no fire hazard (or at least a lot loss) re-useable, so it's a one time expense. I have sevral we put up around the house, I also get the pre-lit ones. Less of a hassle! The downside, storage, but I have a big basement and when I put the addition on the garage I plan on having a storage area created above it strictly for holiday decorations.
