A fake Christmas tree is just for show, the real thing brings more to the atmosphere of the home with the smell of pine, and the feel of the real green tree. When I was in my own place (not renting) I bought a real tree that was plantable every year and then planted it outside after Christmas. Now that I'm renting we only have a fake tree, but I miss the real ones.
