We always had more than one. Living in a house with pine trees in the garden we decorated them outside. Only when these began to grow over 24m (about 80 ft) and my parents started having grandchildren, they bothered to buy a little tree to put inside. But the big trees, getting over 40 years now, are slowly dying, so there's enough space outside to let the little ones grow up.
