I've encountered, it's probably a language standard but I can't be bothered to look it up right now.

As for AMD's 64-bit architecture, in the business I'm in I've only once needed to use a 64-bit integer. It would be nice to increase the speed of all those double calculations but I have to admit to being dubious about the overall benefits of the move from 32-bit.
