This beast was circa 1970s. Fixed point maths, core memory, drum storage. The CPU was two full-height racks filled with transistor boards on a wire-wrap backplane. You have an instruction set of approx 30 commands in octal opcodes operating on two numeric and four binary registers. The operator's terminal was a large panel on the front of one of the CPU cabinets, covered in push buttons and blinkenlights.

I'd need to refer to my notes at work on how to do square roots on it though...
