a floating point calculation of any vector graphics could possibly cause the OS to crash, there is absolutely no correlation between the two. If your font is calculated imprecisely then you'll end up with slightly deformed letters, not a BSOD.

Ditto for alpha blending, the calculaion will end up slightly off one way or the other. There is no way that you can tell me that that will cause the program to trample core and lock the system.
