before I go to sleep... seems there was an nforce driver in the kernel... I didn't notice it at first probably because 1) it says intel at first and 2) tired and 3) earlier trying to do stuff without kid knowing what I'm doing... but anyhoo it said something about intel, nforce, and amd re sound so I'm trying that then sleeping. I'm also going to let hotplug pickup the nvnet as for whatever reason it doesn't always want to autoload but I might try resetting that too. I think each time I compile the kernel it makes the driver wonky so I need to redo it as well.
