...unless you wish to remain single for the rest of your life, that is. Until you decide to join Television Addicts Anonymous, the best way to keep a TV in place is to make a Box for it - with the front covering all but the screen and the IR, and with a lock on it that will allow you to take out the TV for repairs. Bolt that down to the shelf, put TV in, put lock, keep the key on you at all times.
