Help? by LurkerMo 2003-11-07 13:01:26
I'm getting deeper and deeper into Linux. I now have to build a laptop to do wireless communication/sniffing/detecting. Since Airsnort is available for Linux I am trying to run it under RedHat 9.

The only card I have is the Proxim Orinoco Gold (8170), which is based on the Atheros 5001X chipset. Airsnort (or RedHat) does not support this natively.

So I have downloaded a driver that also will add wlan capabilities to my installation. But when I try to compile them, I get an error indicating that a file is missing - /lib/modules/$KERNEL_PATH/build/.config

How do I get this file? It appears that it should be there - and maybe it is, under a different name. But I don't know enough to spot it:-(

Can anybody help me please?
