Anybody still NationStating? by dire_lobo2003-11-06 16:45:45
  I still do. by Animefreak 2003-11-06 19:10:24
I'm Ahnk-Morpork...

The Commonwealth of Ahnk-Morpork is a massive, devout nation, notable for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 1.41 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Religion & Spirituality. The average income tax rate is 57%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Arms Manufacturing.

The latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, euthanasia is illegal, the mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas, and college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ahnk-Morpork's national animal is the dragon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the disc.

Ahnk-Morpork is ranked 5th in the region and 5,388th in the world for Largest Nations.
