| Some spyware is really the get-what-you-paid-for kind. The stuff where it must be installed to use some program that you downloaded for free instead of buying. As much as I don't like it, at least they ask if you agree to their ToS. Although annoying as ice on the road, it's legit.
The spyware that installs itself without users consent/knowledge, I have to agree with you. Though I'd be more inclined to call it invasion of privacy, since they are browsing the intimate details of your computer without consent. If you want to get really legal about it... if they don't ask for consent to install their software or display a user-agreement during the process, there's absolutely nothing stopping you from reverse engineering their software, altering it for your own evil purposes, or doing whatever else you feel like to it, since they waive their own right to a contract. =) |
