In that context, the "divine spark" part is implied. He wasn't talking about "life" in the most literal sense; he was talking about people.

The ability to get rid of it is the standard? So, when we get to the point where a fetus can easily be safely transferred from one womb to another, or from a womb into an artificial incubator, will women lose the right to abortion?
