Why can you go to Denny's (just one example) and get a meal that someone cooks for you and delivers to your table for about the same cost as (if not less than) making it yourself. Economies of scale are a part of this but so are keeping staff costs low. I grant you many companies cheat their employees to increase profits but there are many restaurants that wouldn't be able to stay in business if they had to pay their waiters the minimum wage that exists in our industries.
