An Issue of Responsibility by Illiad2003-11-06 08:30:47

      No. by LurkerMo 2003-11-06 10:53:23
The child being conceived was not a desired or expected event. It is, however, something that happened to the woman's body. She can now choose what to do about it. If she decides to terminate the pregnancy, then she can do so without having to consult with the father.

If she decides to carry the pregnancy to term, then she takes on the responsibility for caring for the child.

Forcing the father to take on responsibility for a child that he did not choose to father would also give him the right to determine whether the child should be carried to term. The responsibility and the right to decide MUST go together.

I believe that it is best for the woman to determine what happens to her body - whether it will be host to a baby or not - without being compelled by outside interests.
