To me, it's simply an issue of "you took the risk." Yes, they took precautions, but they took the risk. DR66 said it best, imo, elsewhere in the thread. "Don't play unless you're willing to pay."

Is that a pleasant reality? No. But that doesn't make it "unfair" or "unjust." If you choose to go skiing down a mountain, obviously you're going to take precautions to make sure you don't break your legs. However, should you happen to break your legs anyway, well, you chose to go skiing down the mountain, and you knew the risks. You can't just rewind and pretend it didn't happen.

So - in my opinion - there's no reason you should expect to be able to rewind and pretend it didn't happen with children, either. As I said elsewhere, there are some valid reasons for abortion (some ethical, some coldly realistic), but preference isn't one of them.
