You would want to wait for Longhorn to become available. Windows 2003 is a Server product. It doesn't mean that it is more powerful, it just means it is architecturally designed for a different purpose.

In some cases you will see VERY poor performance for desktop applications. You might even find a number of applications simply won't install on it as well. All in the name of Stability.

If you want the latest Desktop Windows, stick with XP. If you want the latest Server Windows, grab a copy of Windows 2003.
