:-)
We do have a cold season.
February=Spring
March-October=Summer
November=Fall
December/January=Bitter Cold Winter with ice storms and insulation piercing cold
I'm generalizing this on a European scale. The European scale does not truely account for Texas seasons however, if it did their would be "post-Spring summer followed by unsurviveable hell, followed by pre-Fall summer" the way they rate things. Come on, that little so called heat wave in France killed that many people? We get that during Spring and Fall around here!
Add 24 F (13 C)to their heat wave and you'll have the highest I remember in West Texas, my dad can remember a few more than that a couple of years before I was born. 116F (46.5C) was not an uncommon high for us, 120F (49C) was a hot summer.
I know our cold isn't as cold as what's up north. I've never really been up north much so I can't speak to much, but according to my dad he had Yankees as hands on some of his drilling rigs who would sit and shiver in our cold but could do fine up north. The one time I was above the Mason/Dixon I went outside at the Twin Cities airport and smoked a cigarrete, I found it crisp but pleasent, then I hopped on a plane and froze my butt off in Georgia. I've been told it's probably because of the humidity even when it's cold. Up north it's cold enough to get the moisture out of the air, but down south the fact it doesn't get colder is what makes the air feel so bitter. |
