When folks in good ole Jones County Georgia would always vote Democrat, even if we didn't have a Democratic candidate for an office. One poor guy ran for County Coroner and lost because folks voted a straight Democratic ticket meaning he got no votes (being Republican and all) even though he was the only person running for that office! My family nearly disowned me when I became a Republican. I was told I was "not a Good Southern Lady to be voting against the party that shed its blood for the glorious Southern cause against Northern aggression." Pardon me while I vomit now.
