Once the water is hot, you add your flavor packet, a dash of white vinegar (roughly 1-2 tbl.), a table spoon of honey, and a dash of garlic. Carrot strips and sweet corn also make nice additions. Another option is to add a bit of soy sauce, garlic, and a capful of sake. This one is really good with your favorite dried or preserved fish. It can work with canned tuna or salmon too.
