it depends on the grade of burn by Celticess 2003-11-03 21:23:08
I've suffered 3rd degree burns more than once. Two times to my back as a chemical reaction.(I found out the hard way I'm allergic to liquid heat and a535... my mom tried to get it off me but not before it blistered through 3 times... so off to the docs I went) Another time from a motorcycle crash... it was the exhuast that burnt me along back of my leg.

For serious burns aka 3rd degree yes keeping things sealed and usually well hydrated helps. For lesser burns letting the air at them helps. Lanolin is a big no no so is butter which is a old myth(ie stick butter on a burn). Honey can oddly help but only for minor cuts and burns. Zinc is a good treatment as is aloe if you want something natural enough. Also oatmeal baths, epson salts(aka shintz baths), or baking soda. This is on my sons arm so doesn't require so much. It's already looking better with two applications of solarcaine... I figure he'll be fine in a few days tho it will feel odd and likely leave a scar. I figure this is a second degree burn and first.(there were two burn marks)
