...it just disables itself if you leave the parking lot. I think that that's a much better way to handle it; you don't worry about people stealing them because the RF transponder lock goes off once it's out of the range of the transmitter, and poof useless cart, no turning wheels. So you can trust the public to use them without trusting them at all. Everybody wins. It's kind of funny, though; there's this one spot in the middle of the store that seems to be a dead zone, so people will be walking through it, you'll hear this "beep-beep" noise and then bam everybody can't move. It's hilarious.
