I'm not a doctor, but from my understanding of burns it's generally a good idea to cut off the air source, as "burning" generally requires oxygen (you chemistry geeks can help me out with this one... I mean, isn't that the definition of "burning"? It's been SEVERAL years since I took chemistry, however, so I may be mixing things up). Wrap it good and tight and prevent the burn from oxygenating and getting worse.
Of course, all my experience with burns is with burns that didn't break the skin or cause blisters or anything. All I know is it felt really good to put vitamin E on it and wrap it up really tight. So long as oxygen was getting at it, it wouldn't stop hurting. |
