...to these societal problems that currently plague this society.
Those are some good questions about parental licensing. It's not an easy thing to answer right away. In fact, it wouldn't even be Constitutional, as our Constitution sits currently. I am not saying we need to rewrite the Constutition, but the only other answer would be for parents to stop being so apathetic.
If they weren't apathetic, then the New Orleans schools wouldn't be so poor. If they were apathetic, perhaps their children would better equipped to excell in the surroundings they are presented with.
This is an issue that will be long debated well after you and I are both nothing more then piles of dust. There are no concrete, simplistic answers...
Money can help, better parenting can help, government controlled child-rearing could help, mandatory ethics and morality training from pre-school to at least Middle School could help, proxy-parents employeed by the school system to be the 'parents' of a small group of children from Pre-school to High School Graduation could help...
There are so many things that could help this situation our society has found itself in. Some will work wonderfully, others will fail miserably. However, none of the 'solutions' I have mentioned will work alone. It will require a combination of one, two or three solutions working under the same banner.
Perhaps the general populace will figure this out on their own and start building upon the 'fabled' Family Values of old. (I am not talking the 'Family Values' hawked by the Religious Right of make as many babies for the Christian Army as possible, I am talking about real values of high morals, positive ethics, true compassion and a backbone of hard work.) |
