It's obvious they were going for:
"TV-Tuner Funkitron," but they got "Funciton"
"Front Panel LSD Displosion," instead of "LCM Dispaly"
"Equicaloric LCM," rather than "Equlizer"
As for the technical side, it seems they expect you to use powered speakers. The point of an integrated unit is usually appearance and size, which would be rather lost by using an unmatched external amplifier. The signal loss on the phono jacks might be noticeable as well, if connected to 5.1 analog inputs on a decent amp. If you wanted good surround sound, I suppose a computer rig like the Creative GD850 (with built-in DTS/Dolby digital decoder) would suffice, but I don't particularly like the idea of putting that in my living room.
I can see using it for the computer capability, and possibly saving money in the DVD arena, but that can be accomplished with most any micro PC. If you're lacking AV enough AV switching in your receiver, this might help by freeing up any VCR, DVD, CD, and external tuner jacks. If you're going to a LAN party and can't live without popular music, well, I suppose you could carry an FM antenna.
The big advantages are the preprogrammed LCD screen, and the remote. Which doesn't appear to be programmed for the optional TV tuner. Then there's a question of how the RF tuner and such are treated internally. If they can be tunred off independently, it's possible that there's a physical switch for computer or radio, and never the 'twain shall meet. Which I'm sure would please the RIAA to no end. |
