I can only assume that he must have folded the leg he was cutting up over the knee of the other, making a triangular lap area. But that's gotta foul the gearstick (let alone impeding the movement of the leg controlling the accellerator/brakes...). Not sure how you steer, look where you're going, hold and examine your toe, and operate the scissors/toenail clipper at the same time, though...although I guess that's the problem...
