Of course, you understand that having the power suddely drop,
without a normal shutdown could cause you to loose files, or
trash your filesystem/formatting...
BUT, Even if you are not seeing files dissapear, the extreme
power fluctuation of having a washing machine that hits the
same power circuit can cause extra strain for both your power
supply and circuitry. A surge suppressor on the line certainly
helps - but it can only keep the spikes from your machine, it
doesn't do much for repeated sags, and skipps in the power.
A UPS is much better at those sorts of things.
Yes, the damage in these cases is more gradual, and we hope it's
slight enough that it doesn't cause a failure - but I'd get that
UPS anyway (your PC will be happier). |
