If your current interest considers you to be seeing her exclusively (i.e. you have a romantic dating arrangement going, whether you have discussed exclusivity or not) then you did the right thing.
If your current interest is not seeing you romantically, or if you have specifically said you would be seeing other people, then you could have agreed to a date with the new girl.
On a side note, being up front with the new girl will work in your favor if you should break it off with the first girl. If she knows you are loyal, as demonstrated, she is more likely to trust you to be faithful to her.
I think the 'bet on two horses at once' phrasing was probably not the best choice you could have made, but that's behind you now.
Of course, she isn't going to like being considered as your second choice, or fall back option. You'll have to figure out how to deal with that yourself. |
