Also pointing out that the unstable branch of Debian often picks up new software releases before other things like mandrake's 'cooker' or redhat's 'rawhide'.

I should also bring to light the fact that at the time of debian 3.0's release (which wasn't *that* long ago), the software in the distro was recent (not bleeding edge, but do you want software in your 'stable' boxen that breaks every thirty seconds) - If only it was left another month or so people wouldn't be complaining.
