Gah... I need help choosing a distro. by Sim2003-11-01 00:52:56

yes you know that is exactly what by Celticess 2003-11-01 01:10:31
turned me off of slackware. It looks like a decient distro but the zealots are a major turn off. At one point I was going to stick it or debian on one of the machines here... I went so far as to burn a disk. But several people were going on fanatically for days about how slackware was so perfect and it utterly turned me off of it. No distro is perfect and each has it's quirks. After trying a few people usually find what suits them best. I like debian varients auto detect as much as I do mandrakes. It's done very well. Only downside is I find the info on installing debian a bit weird.(the way they name the install disks and stuff is a bit disorienting but that aside it's a great distro)

For a really quick try at nix tho I recommend knoppix to give people a taste of what it's like without changing their system yet.
