followed somebodies suggestion by Fast Eddie 2003-10-22 21:51:08
from yesterday, spent my afternoon downloading ISOs, made a couple coasters so I had to run to the store for more disks, notched down the speed on the CD burner, successfully burned two images and am currently in the process of installing slackware take #2
I actually did successfully install it with a minimum of difficulty once, although several packages had fatal errors, and im not sure what caused them. J2sdk, xscreensaver, python and some others I cant remember. Also, when I tried using Gnome, it choked pretty bad, giving me an error window about the screensaver twice, and the startup splash screen wouldnt go away. I could run programs but the splash screen also seemed to be always on top. So that made it a bit goofy to use programs.
All in all it worked quite nicely on first try. KDE worked just fine, and everything else seemed to be in order, it automatically setup ONE of the CD-roms and that all worked

I find when I am installing a new lniux distro I ussually like to go through the install process a couple times, not sure why.

Anyways, I'm not nearly as in over my head as I thought I would be, so we're doing pretty good
