                I didn't say it was a contingency plan by niwikki 2003-10-22 20:53:39
I said that even if it was contingency, they only ended up with 25% of the total settlement, which is LESS than what would normally be charged with a contingency.

If it has nothing to do with contingency, then when the settlement happened they must've taken an extremely small contingency or charged an hourly fee which came out to be far less than even 25%, because according to the numbers on the page you linked, the total fees came to a GRAND TOTAL of 25% of the total award.

FWIW: "depletion" wasn't my word -- it was a word in the quote you took from the web site. don't put it in my mouth as being mine.

also FWIW: there are also several lawyers out there that you've never met and never heard anything about. Stereotyping lawyers as being the types of people to steal from their clients is no better than stereotyping based on racial traits.

(and yes, I do have an interest here -- I'm a law student and I'm the daughter of a lawyer. My father has never been unethical with his clients' money, and I intend to never be unethical with my clients' money. I dislike the implication you attempt to throw upon all lawyers without even knowing them.)
