it is still illegal to distribute abandonware. Just because the owner isn't distributing it anymore doesn't mean anyone else can usurp their rights. The owner has the right to keep it from the market as much as the gamers may dislike it. The site even admits in its FAQ that some of what it does is technically illegal.
