for one, it would give a valid excuse to all those that don't give a crap and don't vote. A lot (if not most) people don't value things they got without any effort. I did not say that people should only vote on things they have experienced personally. I think it's not the exact literal effect of a given decision that we would be trying to impress upon the voter, but rather the degree of the impact. You want convincing evidence that not everybody should vote? Look around. We discuss the stupidity of the general public here every day.
