it's about cultural differences.

For example, out here in California, nobody would EVER refer to a dining experience as a "fish course". I've never even heard that term before. I'm assuming it applies to a meal with multiple courses, one of which involves a fish dish.

Where I grew up and where I live, meals have between 1-3 courses. A 3 course meal is one that starts with a soup or salad, goes on to the main course, and ends with dessert.

It's not a matter of Americans not being intelligent; it's a matter of having differences in culture, and attempting to target the show to the appropriate audience.
