| ...I think there should be pre-requisites for voting. For example, we in Central Florida (Orange county to be precise) recently had a vote on a plan for highway improvments called "Mobility 20/20." (Which some termed "Mobility Until 2020"--look, if the Expressway Authority supports it, it *can't* be good for the general driving public.) However, I think that, in this case, having a driver license should've been a prerequisite to voting on that issue--why? Becuase only people affected by the traffic congestion should be able to vote on a proposed solution. Most people that drove voted "no" according to exit poll data, while those that didn't drive voted "yes". As it is, the measure didn't pass (thank $diety)...but I think only those that drive (and therefore pay gas taxes) should have been able to vote on this. Agree or disagree? |
