A thread resurrection - voting pre-requisites by JPaganel2006-11-19 12:55:59
I think that some alternatives by Slacktime 2003-10-22 09:14:46
would not be a bad thing. For example, making a 2 year stint in the Peace Corp an option. As long as the activity gives the individual an expansion of understanding of the world and its problems. Our countries are well served by those who teach principles of farming, self-reliance, education, medicine, hygeine, which helps 3rd world countries become less dependant on charity and allows them to take a bigger part in international affairs. At the same time it improves the understanding between cultures and helps the international image of our countries... sometimes the only good image we get when our leaders let us down.
