Real men don't use maps. by nin_man 2003-10-22 06:40:37
And then by that, I am not a real man. I want a map. Badly.

I want a map of the network here at my job. But I'd like it to be made automatically. Because that would be nifty.

I used to use 3Com Network Supervisor to do this, but if I run it on the network here, I get a list of all the stations but no links between any of them. This won't do at all.

I've gone out looking for something else, but none of what I find has been what I want - with the exception of Nagios. The trouble with that is that it's a Linux-only program, and I've no more desire to use Linux than a tampon.

I just want a frickin' picture of my frickin' network with frickin' links between things. It doesn't even have to be free - I just want something to run for long enough to get a printout so I can draw it in Visio or something.

And no, this has nothing at all to do with my burning desire to use the gigantimous large-format HP DesignJet downstairs, so don't even start that. :)
