| You are wise in not falling for the more complex Linux solution. This is NOT stuff you want to be tinkering with all the time. It needs to work as reliably as your kitchen toaster, every time. The same argument applies to Win boxen. I've built many Fuzzball routers, it's really no fun, trust me on this (J'ai teste pour vous).
The UK Netgear site is a good place to start. Look for the DG824M. It combines NAT router, WAP (Wireless Access Point), and 4-port switch all in one box. The DM834 is the same thing without the WAP. It can be expanded with a FS605 (5-port switch) or FS608(8-port switch), if you need more than 4 ports.
The nice thing about the Netgear routers is that they support DynDNS.ORG, or at least, my RP114 router does, even if such support isn't advertised.
I did essentially the same thing here but with older equipment that I brought with me from the "States". A note about NICs though, I prefer 3com 3c905 NICs over Netgear FA311 NICs.
No, I have no business interest with any of the above links. |
