When I do "DIR /ad", I only get the current directory contents. I had to add /S to recurse. But I'd need to check how many files AND how many directories are in a particular directory before I decided to delete it.

Also, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to do that sophisticated file parsing/number recognition step. I don't think DOS allows for line-by-line parsing.

I'll probably keep playing around with this problem, since the XCOPY method is annoying, but thanks for the suggestion.
