I'm speaking hypothetically now. What if the cameras weren't controlled by the police? Say, the city government or even a private corporation was in charge of installing, maintaining, and archiving the video of cameras that were installed in city streets. Assume, also, that your argument that the police require a warrant to view the tapes is in effect.
Does this make it any better? How is this any different than a private citizen installing cameras on his/her property? The police can't arbitrarily track you, but *someone* still can.
Installing cameras (whether on streets, in schools, or wherever), is not the answer to the problem, IMO. |
