...I firmly believe micro-payments are the way forwards. I have yet to see any even half-way workable implementation, though - and that article didn't even scrape the surface.

The real catalyst must be the banks. When they take the micro concept under their wing, we'll have something akin to the creditcard revolution.

There are all sorts of hurdles to this one - not only the security problems, but the privacy concerns as well. If you are paying someone a few pence, you don't really want to give your name and address. The other big challenge is to make micro-payments economically viable at all. When the amounts are so low, the overhead per transaction has to be tiny.
