My virus protection just went off... by j.butterfly 2003-08-26 13:38:11
I was retrieving my email...and the sirens started going off. It detected I had an email from Microsoft with the subject "Use this patch immediately!"

I had my virus protection delete the attachment completely. Inbound message INFECTED: \patch.exe (Win32:Dumaru [Wrm]) was deleted from the message.

The text of the email read:

Dear friend , use this Internet Explorer patch now! There are dangerous virus in the Internet now! More than 500.000 already infected!

Now, I would have been leary of this email anyhow...but I really like this new demo I am using. It is AVAST virus protection. I will definately be getting the full version. It updates itself, and runs everytime I check my email, and open a browser...good for those non-tech types. :)
