(short subject line). They want to enforce their beliefs into the law of the land.

Unlike Naruki, I am content to let religion do whatever floats their navies. There is no dearth of clergy on the planet and if a couple can't find clergy, there's always the Justice of the Peace. I do agree that we should totally separate the secular from the religious and make everyone go through some secular body to get married from a legal standpoint and then they can do their religious ceremony if that's what they want. That's not likely to happen, however, because adding that one more step would be too much for some Bridezillas to deal with what with trying to find the appropriately atrocious bridesmaids gowns and shoes and handbags and flowers and the caterer...etc.
