Well that was funny by julius.apweiler 2003-08-26 09:54:39
As I've said in Illiways, I had to take the family car for the technical/security check-up today.

Actually, my mum did that a couple of days ago, and they said the lights needed to be readjusted (fairly minor - they were probably just being mean). With that done, I had to go there today. So I stood in queue for a while, finally came into the building, and watched as those in line before me were checked - lights, engine, exhaust, brakes... when my turn came to advance to the spot where the lights were checked, a guy checked my paperwork, mumbled some stuff, and disappeared. After a while, I noticed another guy, perhaps 20 metres away, waving frantically for me to drive up to him and place the car over a trench where they check it from underneath (but this had already been done, so I didn't need to wait for that). He checked the papers again and waved me on to the brakes check (again, already done), from where they waved me to the exit. End result: I got the certificate that the car is 100% OK without the lights actually being checked. And the paper I handed in at the entrance specifically said the lights needed to be re-checked. They charged me EUR 10.75 for the fun, too.

Makes you feel good about the safety of all the other cars on the roads here...
Are these people lazy, overworked or just stupid?
