And I mentioned at the time that I didn't know how the current laws are handled - which has absolute importance in which way I sit on the issue. If churches are allowed to perform secular marriages, I firmly believe that they _must_ perform them for _any_ couple legally entitled to get married (this is beside the "gay couple" issue).

If the church is strictly a non-secular ceremony, then that's their business. But if anything coming out of that ceremony is legally binding, then they _must_ stop discriminating. Period.

That means that Catholic churches will have to marry once-divorced people, for example. Or Jews. Or Muslims. Or Pagans. Etc.
