I got the retail job to get me through college. Now that I'm done college (computer engineering technology), I would like very much to get into software development. However, the #1 employer for graduates of my course - the telecom industry - is collapsing and/or collapsed. The call center would be just another I-have-to-pay-the-rent-until-the-industry-recovers sort of thing. It's still customer service, which I'm very good at. As well, this particular call center is currently the #1 employer for programming and technology graduates here in town. And yes, my grandparents are Dutch.
